There is a black wire with a yellow stripe attached to the hot side of the starter solenoid, the same place that the positive battery cable attaches. That wire takes power from the battery ( or, the alternator when the car is running) to the ignition switch, headlight switch and emergency flasher circuit. You should at least get lights coming on the dash or dome lights on when you open the door. If the starter is bad, that's a different story. No dash lights = serious electrical issue. Another suggestion, depending on how old your battery is, If you have a load meter, check the battery, You could have some dead cells and the battery may show some voltage but not enough amps. If you can score a schematic you might try to determine if you have any fusible links as well. The clicking sound comes from the relay to which I point in the video. The video was shot with the trickle charger connected. Here is a video: First ensure the WHITE wire with RED stripe is attached to the same lug as the POSITIVE cable from the BATTERY and your starer solenoid. Engine. 5.9L Cummins, 5.2l v8. remove your new power wire from brake fuse in engine bay, test if that fixes your no start issue. Then find a new way to supply power to correct the original issue. I had similar problem, researched the battery and saw it needs a cranking amp at 800 or better. Found the battery it specified at autozone. It's about $200 bucks but less with trade in and and coupon downloaded. Worked great ever since. By the way my other battery was a 650 amp. A good indicator (though not always) is when you are checking ohms, if it never settles and kinda skips around between 2 different ohm readings. Check the 50 amp breaker and see if the little yellow bar is hanging down. If it is, push it up and that will reset your breaker. Do NOT push the red button as that would trip it. Reading 12.7, then turned the ignition on, this immediately cut power out to the dash and everything no lights, nothing, power reading at battery was 12.5. Just a hunch, but I would start by tracking down all of the underhood fuseible links and testing them, and then try a new ignition switch. typicaly the ignition switch will switch will be in the circuit before the fuse block, and will switch power to the buss' of the fuse block that are for switched accessories.Repeat the same continuity test on the plug going into the stop motor (plug number J34 in the diagram). If the results are different than the test you did on the ignition switch, there is a problem in the wiring between the 2 plugs (B68 & J34). If the test shows everything is fine, then it might be the motor itself.That is attached to your starter and does not influence your ignition switch. It may be the relay that is the source and that means you should bypass that part and see if it is the problem. If it is you would need to replace the relay. Of course, you shouldn’t ignore the different fuse boxes. No crank and all the dash lights turned off. Now, when you turn the key there is no resistance like you normally feel when the ignition and starter are about to engage and none of the lights on the dash turn on and there is no crank. Electrical problem usually points to bad grounds or poor connection at the battery terminals. You should at least get lights coming on the dash or dome lights on when you open the door.
